It All Started With Two Rescued Dogs

Not long after my daughter Sophie and I moved from New York to Boca Raton, Florida, in 2019, a five-month-old Toy Australian Shepherd named Roxy came into our lives.

Roxy had already been rehomed twice. She was timid, stressed, and needed a place where she could finally feel safe and settled. We brought her home, and with time, she began to trust, relax, and become the happy, playful dog she is today.

A few years later, Clara came into our lives. Before she was even a year old, she had suffered abuse and neglect and needed major hip surgery. After surgery, she was left with no one to foster her, so we took her in.

Sophie helped with Clara's rehabilitation and physical therapy, and we watched her grow stronger until she was able to run and play again. By then, she was part of our family. We adopted her.

Roxy and Clara came to us in very different ways, but both simply needed someone willing to give them a chance.

They became the inspiration for Second Chance Ranch.

Today, that inspiration has grown into a much bigger vision. We're working to create an extraordinary animal sanctuary on more than 81 acres in Delray Beach, Florida — a permanent home where horses, rescued farm animals, and senior and special-needs dogs can find safety, compassion, exceptional care, and the second chance they deserve.
